Description:
Following the Mughal defeat at the battle of Buxar by the military forces of the East India Company, Mughal Emperor Shah Alam signs the unequal Treaty of Allahabad that grants the company the right to administer a large swath of North India (Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa). Mughal emperors continue to loose power to the British. By the 19th century, Mughal power is reduced to the area just surrounding Delhi.
