Description:

1）Compromise within Congress that Missouri entered the union as a slave state, Maine became a free state, and future expansion would be separate by a 36 degree 30 min. 2）It was an important compromise between north and south and it was meant to create balance between slave and non-slave states. But it actually separated the nation into the free north and slavery south. It postponed the inevitable cilvil war for decades. However, it was repealed by Kansas-Nebraska Act eventually and caused a great turbulance.
