Description:

The Civilization Fund Act was established to give funding to Christian missionary schools. The goal of these schools was to teach Indian children the ways of civil society. These children often became the leaders of their native tribes, their early conditioning often made them sympathetic toward the government. Therefore they often negotiated the treaties.
