Description:

John Backus was the inventor of the FORTRAN language with his team at IBM. Alongside Peter Naur he also developed the Backus-Naur Form.

1) Backus made important contributions to functional programming language and systems.

2) Peter Naur made contributions in the definition of ALGOL 60 and pioneered the Backus-Naur Form.

3) The Backus-Naur Form is used to describe and depict programming languages.
