Description:
- Began a new era of communication (the Information Age), allowing information, resources, and messages to be sent through the internet- Introduction of the URL (uniform resource locator), an "address" unique to each resource on the web that allowed the resource to be easily located. Today, nearly all webpages have URLs are can be located using a search engine (which in essense, is a database of URLs)
- Introduced the idea of hypertext, a webpage/document that is interconnected to other documents with hyperlinks. This "web" of documents connected to other documents increased the publication of information on the Internet. Today, webpages are built off this fundamental underlying concept, and are coded using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
