1 janv. 300 av. J.-C. - Binary system is invented

Description:

In 300 BCE, the mathematician Pingala invented the Binary system. At the time, this system represented information in the form of long and short syllables, similar to Morse code. Over time, this became the modern Binary system, which allows information to be represented in the form of 1s and 0s, and is the system that powered many early computers.

Binary was a crucial component to the development of computers, since this simple system allowed many Computer Science pioneers to develop their products without over complication. Even Babbage's Analytical Engine was powered by a form of the Binary system, but instead of 1s and 0s, it was a punched or unpunched punchcard. Systems today still use this system today, and although the original system wasn't related to technology, the idea is ancient.
