He sees that he now has more spiders than flies and tells him to get rid of them. Seward is curious how he will get rid of the spiders. Seward notices that Renfield also keeps a little notebook that he is always writing in. “Whole pages are filled with masses of figures, generally single numbers added up in batches, and then the totals added in batches again.”
