Description:
A plan created to strengthen the nation, led by Whig party leaders and other politicians such as Henry Clay, John Adams, and John C, Calhoun. Clay argued that the West, which opposed the tariff, should support it since urban factory workers would be consumers of western foods. It was ideas like that this that led to controversy in the US.
