The Medici family was one of the richest families in Europe during this time. They gained their wealth from founding the largest most respected bank in the world. Their city was Florence, Italy and because of their passion for arts and humanities, Florence became the heart for the Renaissance. The Medici Bank started with the founder Cosimo de' Medici and ended with Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici.
