16 oct. 1859 - John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry
Description:
John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry was an abolitionist movement in which a small group of men under the lead of John Brown, raided a federal amour in Harper's Ferry VA. John Brown and his five sons although they failed their raid, lit the flame for anti-slavery. This was an important event in separating the nation because he was the start to the abolitionist movement that would one day abolish slavery. This split the nation into two very distinct sides, those who support slavery and those who want to abolish it.
