1 janv. 1861 - Bleeding Kansas
Description:
Bleeding Kansas was the term coined to described the period of violence during the settling of the Kansas territory. In 1854 the Kansas-Nebraska Act negated the Missouri Compromise’s 36 30 line as the boundary between slave and free territory. They came up with a new idea called Popular Sovereignty which stated that the residents would determine whether the area became a free state or a slave state. This caused a big fuss because it was no longer able to be balanced based on where the state was and if you were in a state that decided to switch to slave or free you were not happy.
