Description:
Goals: As part of the Maryland Campaign, Lee made attempts to invade the North. He planned on entering northern territory and send each army unit to march on different towns.
Leaders: Robert E. Lee (Confederacy), Irvin McDowell (Union)
Results: The South’s defeat was a serious blow to their morale, and though it was a victory for the Union, they were criticized for having far superior numbers.
