Now Admins, Editors and selected Bloggers have the option to mark individual blog posts as Announcements and send alerts to everyone on site, through browser and via email. There is also the option to make a whole blog Announcement and every time there is a new post everyone will recieve alerts. This is a great tool to get people on site and make sure they don't miss important news.
