In 1832, Micheal Faraday made one of the most important discoveries that led to an idea that atoms had an electrical component. He placed two opposite electrodes in water which contained a dissolved compound. He had observed that one of the elements of the dissolved compound, piled up on one electrode, and the other element was despised on the opposite electrode.
