The American System was ultimately an economic plan that consisted of the following:- A tariff to protect and promote American industry
- National Bank for Commerce
- Internal Improvements
This advanced sectionalism with the protective tariff. This tariff ultimately benefited the North, since they were more involved with Industry and harmed the South.
