1 janv. 1850 - Marcus Cummins/Cumming Monsarrat arrives in Hawaiʻi

Description:

According to Conrad (1999), Monsarrat was an auctioneer who arrived in Hawaiʻi around 1850. In 1857 Monsarrat was seen leaving the room of Princess Victoria Kamamalu, the sister of King Kamehameha IV. He was arrested and banished for life. The king relented and allowed him to return to his family that included 2 sons who later became well known as a surveyor and an attorney.

In the Irish in Hawaii (1965), Monsarrat is listed as one of the 48 Irishmen who were naturalized as citizens of Hawaiʻi between 1840 and 1893. He was naturalized in 1853.
