Many Danish Vikings united to invade the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms. Northumbria was captured, followed by east Anglia, and created the Danelaw (large plots of English land in return for conversion to Christianity. This gave Vikings influence over the Anglo-Saxons)
Eventually Alfred the Great drove out the Vikings, but this led to more organized raids by Viking royalty
