Description:UNIVAC 1is a line of electronic digital stored-program computers starting with the products of the Eckert–Mauchly Computer Corporation. Later the name was applied to a division of the Remington Rand company and successor organizations.

History:Invented in 1951 by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert

Special Features:The UNIVAC I was also the first computer to come equipped with a magnetic tape unit and was the first computer to use buffer memory.

Uses: The UNIVAC was used for general purpose computing with large amounts of input and output.
