To some, it may seem like microblogging has been around a long time, it only got its start in 2007. That's when Twitter burst on the scene and gave people a platform to express their thoughts in 140 characters or less.
Microblogging is posting brief and often frequent updates online. Unlike traditional blogs, which are often hosted on a custom website, microblogs are typically published on social media sites like Twitter.
Not all of us are exposed to these but most people who encountered social networking sites have most likely partook in microblogging. We, as a group, have all been exposed to microblogging and interacted using microblogging in different Internet sites such as the most popularly used Twitter.
