22 août 1865 - Sinking of Lusitania
Description:
On this date a german U-boat torpedoed the British steamship Lusitania.
This action resulted in the death of 1,128 people (supposedly 128 of them were americans).
Although the US did not enter the war after this incident, it did, however, worsen the relations between the US and germany.
