On October 1st China celebrated its national day representing 70 years of The Republic of China. Large displays were made by the Chinese government in Beijing, including a military parade. However in Hong Kong, on this day, demonstrations and protests quickly escalated into fighting in the streets with one protester even being shot. This was the first time lethal force had been used in the 17 weeks of demonstrations.
