23 mai 1618 - Defenestration of Prague occurs
Description:
Bohemia was a religiously tolerant state in the Holy Roman Empire. When Ferdinand II's Catholic officials closed protestant churches in Bohemia tensions began to rise. When two officials were cornered in the top of a tower, the Bohemians threw them out and they landed in a pile of manure. This was the signal for a Bohemian revolt and started the Thirty Years' War.
