Moolade takes place in an African Village, and is mainly focused on the protest of female genital mutilation. While this is a common practice in a lot of African countries, it is extremely dangerous and many young women have died from it. Given the lack of immunity along with the lack of antibiotics they have, this process is very unsafe. This film is important in the black feminism sense by showing the disadvantages and difficulties they faced. While this film is somewhat graphic and emotional, I think it is a must watch to gain a deeper undrstanding of this issue.
