Description:

The Artist Union Strike was a sit-down strike in New York City to protest cuts that led to many artists to lose their jobs. The strike was considered deviant because over 200 artists marched into the WPA offices and demanded that the jobs be reinstated. The goals of this strike was to reinstate jobs for the artists who lost their jobs. A sanction that they faced was all 200 people was arrested. It caused many other artist unions to stand up against the WPA.
