The Nightmare story in Elm Street is already part of the cultural imaginary and the character embodied by Robert Englund is already part of the popular mythology of several generations, thanks to his characteristic appearance and his sinister modus operandi.
In many ways, this series of slasher films managed to get on top of the subgenre, thanks also to the magnificent pulse of its creator, Wes Craven. It is not surprising that Freddy can measure himself hand in hand with subjects like Jason Voorhes, Michael Myers and other teenage killers in the field.
