7 sept. 1923 - Japanese earthquake. There was an increase of 9,582,000 in the National Debt. The dollar moved against us, owing to the European political situation and reported Japanese purchase of dollars, lowest quotation being 4-50 1/2 in the middle of the week, as against 4-54 1/2 at the end of last week.
