elders to protest Jones
Description:
they have a meeting and address issue in statement (FGH 95)
"Negroes have been in attendance on Church worship services not more than five times in the past two years. Nego attendance at student Friday evening meetings have been more often, probably at one fourth of the meetings (about twice since last March.
Mr. Jones reported that he had received little adverse criticism. No students had objected and they seemed to be helped by the experience. Three adults had expressed disapproval to him, only one of whom seemed to feel very deeply about the matter. He reported a number of people had expressed approval of this policy, but he felt that the vast majority had no deep feelings either way.
Mr. Jones stated to the officers that he felt the Church would not be true to the teachings of Jesus if it should let color, creed, or race bar anyone from its fellowship."
