21 sept. 1780 - =+-+=Benedict Arnold Betrays America=+-+= September 21, 1780 Benedict Arnold conspired with the British to surrender the fort at West Point, New York, that he commanded. He met up with John Andre on this date to discuss the plans. He told Andre to put the documents in his boot. Andre was captured, and Arnold died of gout many years later.
