This was the worst attack on US soil. Over 3000 people died then more than the people died in the Pearl Harbor. The terrorists flew two planes into the 2 110-story World Trade Center towers in New York City and another plane into the Pentagon in Washington DC. At the same time, public support for increased defense spending has climbed to its highest level since a month after this attack.
