1 janv. 1756 - The Diplomatic Revolution

Description:

The Diplomatic Revolution was a change in the diplomatic policy of both France and England. With the balance of power ever shifting in Europe, France felt the need to combat Prussian and English aggression by seeking an alliance with Austria which was a traditional rival. This would go to affect the social aspects of the French state. The marriage of the French monarchy with the Austrian monarchy did not sit well with the French public who were distrusting of Austria. This sowed the first seeds of discontent within France that would prove important in later years as they edged closer to the Revolution. The Diplomatic Revolution also represented a stark change in diplomatic policy for the French nation. Through this abrupt change Europe maintained its all important system of the Balance of Power.
