6 mars 1857 - Dred Scott v Sanford
Description:
The Dred Scott case is a famous event in which Dred Scott, a slave, sued for his rightful freedom. Going all the way to the Supreme Court, Scott eventually lost on the premise that he was “property”, and property did not have rights and freedom. The outcome was widespread outrage, as the judges were said to be southern and have southern prejudices. The unfairness of the matter only fueled the Northern cause, and added another injustice to the growing list.
