30 avr. 1803 - Louisiana Purchase
Description:
President Thomas Jefferson bought land west of the Mississipi River from Napolean. Napolean was in need of money to pay for his war to conquer the world.
This was a major cause to sectionalism because it created the west. It also brought up the problem between the north and the south about whether the new territories would eventually become slave or free states.
