1 janv. 49 - Jerusalem Council
Description:
Word returns to the Church leaders, under the head of James, that the Gospel is now being preached to the Gentiles. There are many Jews who take issue with this, claiming that if Gentiles are truly going to become part of the Kingdom of God, they should adhere to certain Jewish customs, including dietary and circumcision laws. After hearing evidence from Peter and Paul on the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on uncircumcised Gentiles, the council decides that Gentiles in fact do not have to become Jewish in order to be Christians in a momentous occasion for Gentile missions.
