Description:

The Truman Doctrine was part of American Foreign Policy to stop the spread of communism into democratic states at all costs. This became known as "CONTAINMENT" and provided the basis for many acts the US were going to make in the future.
Truman thought that many countries were vulnerable to communist takeover and persuaded the congress to provide aid in the form of arms and money for countries such as Greece and Turkey. The communists were defeated in the Greek civil war in 1949.
