Description:
Thomas Jefferson, seeking to purchase New Orleans from the French, was offered the entire Louisiana territory by French ministers. He bought the whole territory for 15 Million dollars. This event is significant because it removed a world power from the North American continent. Insularism and not having to worry about being attacked has been a big part of American political culture historically.
