The Missouri Compromise deals with states being added to the US. If a state is below the line it is a slave state, above is a free state. This affected the economies of states and whether or not they would be slave-based. If the state is slave based, then it would rely on slaves for free labor and most likely be an agriculture/plantation based economy.
