1 janv. 1803 - Luisiana Purchase
Description:
Thomas Jefferson bought a massive amount of land from Napoleon that doubled the size of the United States. This land had many native peoples living on it, and as Americans eventually expanded into this land, it led to eventual struggles over property rights and problems in Washington as the purchase was seen as a massive expansion of presidential power.
The effect of this purchase on American and Regional culture was that more people identified as American as the borders continued to expand, and Native Americans were hurt as their land continued to be claimed. This led to a polarization of cultures between Natives and Europeans.
