Description:

In the Florida Purchase Treaty, the US purchased Florida from the Spanish. They did this for 5 million dollars as well as giving up the US claim to Texas.

This was important as it pushed the Spanish out of Florida and ended tensions over the isolated peninsula. This was important to the world as Spain had to give up a large piece of land with lots of access to the ocean.
