27 févr. 1933 - The Reichstag Fire

Description:

The Reichstag is set on fire. Inside the building, police found a Dutch communist who was arrested and charged with starting the fire. It is unknown if it was an internal plot against the communists by the Nazi party or whether it was a communist attack. That night, 4000 communist leaders were arrested.
The next day, Hitler made Hindenburg pass am "emergency" decree suspending all articles to do with personal liberty and freedom of speech. The police now had the power to search people's houses and detain them without trial.
Goering's police also seized the state radio.
