Description:

During the 1970's, Congress began to lessen the restirctions previously put on banks. This allowed the banks more freedom to offer different finicial services to their customers. Previously, they felt held back from the Glass-Steagall Banking Act, so with this, Congress stepped back some. With this, people now felt a new sense of trust with their banks and were more willing to invest and put their money in them and get loans from them with this new freedom.
