The first major loss for the Japanese the Battle of Taierzhuang, was a part of the larger battle of Xuzhou. While not a huge loss, the loss still hit Japan's morale hard and boosted China's greatly. It also boosted Chinese unity, and some of the forces that fought together to defeat the Japanese here and been fighting each other just 7 years earlier
