10 mai 1775 - Second Continental Congress
Description:
Following the battle, the second Congress convened early in May of 1775. There, a Continental Army was finally decided upon, headed by George Washington. Also at the meeting, Congress orchestrated a group to delegate with foreign bodies for support, and began to print money for the army. The colonies were still not directly seeking independence, save for the radicals. Several months later, Congress sent the Olive Branch Petition, asking the king for a peaceful compromise, which was met by the British hiring German mercenaries for war. This was very significant because it represented colonial unity with the implicit goal of forming an army, among other things.
