25 déc. 1868 - First Service in St. Luke's Cathedral

Description:

"They must have been hardy souls in those days, for the Church was not completely finished. As Dean Sills expressed it in his address at the 50th anniversary of St. Luke's Parish in 1901, referring to that service, 'religious zeal and fervor were depended upon that first winter to supply the place of adequate heating arrangements.' William G. Strong, who sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Vestry from 1890 to 1915, was told by one of the choir men who had sung at that service, that the choir of men and boys wore their overcoats under their vestments."
