6 déc. 1601 - Act for the relief of the poor

Description:

The success of laws in Ipswich, and Norwich encouraged Elizabeth to make national laws.

It introduced a law that said that the rich in all areas of the country should be taxed in order to raise the money to help the poor.

The Impotent poor would live in Almhouses
The able poor would work in a house of industry where there were materials to use
The idle poor would be sent to work in houses of correction and had to do hard labour (though most came out after a few weeks).
