29 juin 1572 - Vagabonds Act
Description:
The vagabonds act required JPs to census the poor (especially the old and disabled) and establish what was needed to help them.This would be provided by local taxes and overseen by overseers of the poor.
Beggars were punished with whipping but JPs could issue vagabond licenses if needed.
