25 juin 1950 - The United States gets involved in the Korean War
Description:
The Korean War consisted of two sides: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which was aided by communist China and the Soviet Union, and the Republic of Korea, which was aided by the United States. The United States intervened with the Korean war by president Harry S. Truman on the 25th of June 1950.
The reason that the United States got itself into the Korean War was because of Harry S. Truman's desire to contain and end the spread of communism. The U.S.'s appearance in the Korean War and its force against communism was one of the things that lead to the Cold War between the United States and the communists, Soviet Russia.
Adding to the significance of the Korean War, black soldiers were also present fighting for America during a time where the Civil Rights Movement was not as prevalent, which gave blacks a lot more recognition and representation.
