Description:
The Americans captured the capital of Upper Canada armed American schooners crossed Lake Ontario Carrying 1700 troops. They approached the beaches of York. Major General Sheffae led 700 people to fight against the American people but his troops were no match for them. Fort York soon fell to the ground when the troops retreated into town. Sheaffe gave the order to blow up the fort as they retreated, killing and injuring many on each side. Leaving the town to its fate Sheffae and the British soldier left to attack Kingston. Defense of york was left to the militia, the aboriginals, and civilians. The American invaders captured York quickly and burned the wooden parliament buildings and other government offices.
