Description:
Created out of a divide in the women's rights movement over whether it should support the fifteenth amendment, the two groups represented different sects of the women's rights movement. They both served to organize and fight for women's suffrage and other rights. During their time they would pursue legislation promoting women's rights and protest the government's treatment of them. Eventually the groups would merge into the National American Woman Suffrage Association. (Effect: women's rights movement grew) (Continuity: women's rights movement steadily expanded during the time)
