19 juill. 1848 - Seneca Falls Convention

Description:

Headed by Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott, this convention was the first women's rights convention ever to be held in the United States. The convention essentially founded the women's rights movement in the U.S, and laid out the goals for the movement for years to come in the Declaration of Sentiments, a document which outlines the goals decided upon in the convention and draws heavily upon the rhetoric found in the Declaration of Independance, adding further rhetorical effect. (Effect: women's rights movement is founded and formally organized in the U.S.)
