28 juin 1965 - 1965-1968: Riots (The first of the three 'long hot summers' of rioting began in the Watts district of Los Angeles, beginning after a drunken black driver was arrested and the beaten by the police. Fourteen thousand troops were required to restore order and four thousand people were arrested. Although this was one of the most serious incidences, wide spread violence in cities with substantial African American populations was common in these years.)
